Service bulletin MC110120

A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

NHTSA's summary

The engine installed in the affected motorcycles may have a burr present in the guide bore for the oil supply of the timing chain. The burr could dislodge over time due to extreme vibrations and oil pressure fluctuations (incl. temperature influences). Depending on the size of the burr, this could cause a narrowing or restriction of an oil duct or oil spray nozzle. A lack of lubrication (e.g. the timing chain) or insufficient cooling (e.g. the piston) could be the result.
