# Service bulletin PIC6265E

A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

## NHTSA's summary

This Preliminary information communicates that a vehicle may exhibit a Adaptive Cruise Control Unavailable and/or Lane Keep Assist Unavailable message. The technician may attempt to program the Active Safety Control Module \(ASCM\) and encounter a code E4399. The technician is advised if he encounters this concern to zero the MIC counter by placing the vehicle into and back out of "Transport Mode".

This Preliminary Information communication provides information to the technician for the adaptive cruise control or lane keep assist unavailable message in the driver?s information center after the vehicle has been parked in direct sunlight and high ambient temperatures. The cameras electronic control unit?s internal operating temperature range is \-40 degrees Celsius to 85 degrees Celsius. If the temperature of the electronic control unit of the camera module exceeds 85 degrees Celsius the image processor will no longer function resulting in adaptive cruise control and lane keep assist to be unavailable until the temperature falls to below the maximum operating temperature range

Customer Satisfaction Program. All vehicles equipped with Hands\-Free Lane Following \(UKL\) require control software improvement to optimize the performance of the Super Cruise system. Reprogram the long\-range radar and active safety control modules.

Forward Collision Alert Inoperative, Unwanted Application of Emergency Brakes and/or Adaptive Cruise Control Drops Out Condition Some customers may comment on one or more of the following conditions: • Forward Collision Alert \(red light and alarm\) is late or does not come occur. • Vehicle applies emergency brakes with no vehicle in front in areas with overhead structures. • Adaptive Cruise control drops out in barren landscape areas. Adaptive Cruise Control Temporarily Unavailable message appears in the IP. Cause This condition may be due to one of the following: • Software occasionally takes longer than normal to identify a potential collision situation. • Radar reflections look like an actual vehicle causing a brief activation of brakes. • Radar does not see enough reflections so it assumes it is blocked and goes offline. Correction An updated software calibration has been released to address these conditions. A learn procedure \(“service alignment” or “service calibration”\) is not required.

This Preliminary Information communicates to thetechnician that some customers may comment on the operation of their haptic seat during a Lane Keep Assist event. Lane Keep Assist works differently than Lane Departure Warning. The Lane Keep Assist icon is solid amber, Forward Camera Module is actively commanding a torque to Electronic Power Steering. This means that the driver should also feel some feedback from the steering wheel. No Chimes or haptic in the seat. Lane Keep Assist icon is flashing amber; Forward Camera Module is actively commanding torque to Electronic Power Steering. This will also be accompanied with Lane Departure Warning chimes and haptic in the seat feedback based on the setting chosen in the vehicle settings.
