# Service bulletin 15\-002\-20\-3719

A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

## NHTSA's summary

Some vehicles equipped with Smart Brake Support \(SBS\) may exhibit a front radar system malfunction message in the instrument cluster with DTC C1A67:04 \(front radar sensor internal malfunction\) stored in memory. This may be caused by water penetrating into the front radar sensor through the breather hole and damaging the radar sensor, resulting in the DTC C1A67:04. To eliminate this concern, the front radar sensor has been modified.

- [SA\-029\-26](/bulletins/11032103.md), 2026-05-05, Service bulletin: UNKNOWN OR OTHER; ENGINE; POWER TRAIN; SERVICE BRAKES. This Service Alert supersedes the previously issued SA listed below: The changes are noted in Red. SA\-011/24 02/12/24, 06/06/24, 07/29/24 DESCRIPTION Mazda has developed factory recommended scheduled maintenance services that support all major vehicle systems. Mazda recommends dealers follow the scheduled maintenance tables as cited in the vehicle\-specific workshop manual or owner's manual. Services performed outside of Mazda's factory scheduled maintenance are not recommended. These services are unnecessary and create unneeded expenses for your customers. SCHEDULED MAINTENANCE Refer to the applicable Workshop Manual or Owner's Manual for vehicle \-specific manufacturer scheduled maintenance. Workshop Manual \- Refer to section 00\-00 SCHEDULED MAINTENANCE. Owner's Manual \- Refer to section 8 Maintenance and Care. b. Note: Please refer to the information below outlining the services not included in Mazda's Factory Scheduled Maintenance: IMPORTANT: Recommending fluid flushes when not necessary can lead to customer confusion and dissatisfaction. Fluid flushing for preventive maintenance purposes is strongly discouraged, unless otherwise specified in a published procedure \(Owner’s Manual, Workshop Manual, Technical Service Bulletin, etc.\).
- [SA\-055\-25](/bulletins/11026353.md), 2025-12-05, Service bulletin: SERVICE BRAKES. Some vehicles exhibit brake related concerns such as brake noise, brake judder or brake dragging. If you encounter a customer complaint for any one of these symptoms, refer to the following information to understand why symptoms may occur, and to better assist the customer in resolving their specific brake concern. NOTE: Before following this Service Alert repair procedure, ensure published TSBs in MGSS have been completed per model year.
- [SA\-016\-24c](/bulletins/11009644.md), 2024-11-04, Service bulletin: SERVICE BRAKES. Some vehicles exhibit brake related concerns such as brake noise, brake judder or brake dragging. If you encounter a customer complaint for any one of these symptoms, refer to the following information to understand why symptoms may occur, and to better assist the customer in resolving their specific brake concern.
- [SA\-007\-24b](/bulletins/11008430.md), 2024-10-04, Service bulletin: SERVICE BRAKES. This information will give you the necessary knowledge to respond to customers concerns of Smart Brake Support \(SBS\) unintended braking. By educating the customer on the system operation, it should reduce their anxiety or distrust of the vehicle.
- [04\-001\-24b](/bulletins/11008429.md), 2024-10-04, Service bulletin: SERVICE BRAKES. Symptom 1: Some customers may complain about hearing a grinding noise and/or vibration occur when applying the brake. This is due to rust on the rear brake disc plate. The brake pad has insufficient disc\-rust prevention performance, resulting in the disc plate rusting. To eliminate this concern, the pad material has been improved to prevent rust on the disc surface. Symptom 2: Some vehicles may exhibit a squeal noise from the rear brakes when braking lightly while driving at a slow speed. The squeal noise is caused by the disc pad surface fluctuating. To eliminate this concern, the brake pads have been modified.
- [SA\-063\-24](/bulletins/11008423.md), 2024-10-04, Service bulletin: LANE DEPARTURE: BLIND SPOT DETECTION. The Blind Spot Monitoring \(BSM\) system can malfunction with the following symptoms if the rear side radar sensors are installed facing the wrong direction. BSM system indicates vehicle on the opposite side. i\-ACTIVSENSE indicator ring will not turn green Rear Cross Traffic Alert \(RCTA\) does not work Rear side radar sensor aiming may fail TPMS DTC\(s\) stored
- [SA\-016\-24b](/bulletins/11007009.md), 2024-09-04, Service bulletin: SERVICE BRAKES. Some vehicles exhibit brake related concerns such as brake noise, brake judder or brake dragging. If you encounter a customer complaint for any one of these symptoms, refer to the following information to understand why symptoms may occur, and to better assist the customer in resolving their specific brake concern.

- [SSPC5 MRTa](/bulletins/11005709.md), 2024-08-05, Service campaign: FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL; UNKNOWN OR OTHER; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. SSPC5 \- SPECIAL SERVICE PROGRAM \- 2019\-2021 MAZDA3 AND 2020\-2021 CX\-30 \- CONTROL UNITS REPROGRAMMING Concern 1: Mazda3 and CX\-30 – Battery concern On the subject vehicles, the CCU \(climate control unit\) and BCM \(body control module\) may not go into sleep mode even after the ignition is switched OFF or may take time to go into sleep mode. An electric current may continue to flow, allowing the battery to discharge and run out if the vehicle is left unused for a certain time. Causal factor: Inappropriate control program of CCU and BCM. Update to BCM will also update the IC, DOOR\_ESU\_D, DOOR\_ESU\_P, ESU modules. Concern 2: Mazda3 and CX\-30 \- MRCC concern: On the subject vehicles, the responsiveness when driving following a preceding car using the MRCC \(Mazda Radar Cruise Control\) system is designed to high response. Some drivers may feel the acceleration and deceleration jerk when using MRCC somewhat uncomfortable. The product update has been incorporated into mass\-production Mazda3 and CX\-30 vehicles, and acceleration and deceleration has been made more natural by changing controls to be closer to human expectation. The similar update will be made on the subject vehicles produced prior to the product update under this SSP. \* MRCC: Mazda Radar Cruise Control \(MRCC\) uses a millimeter wave radar to judge the relative speed and distance to the car ahead and automatically controls vehicle speed. Working within a set speed range, MRCC automatically adjusts and maintains a safe following distance from the car in front. Concern 3: CX\-30 \- Theft\-Deterrent System concern On the subject vehicles, the theft\-deterrent system may not recognize correctly the open/close state of power liftgate, which may allow the theft\-deterrent system to activate wrongly when the liftgate is opened by pressing the power liftgate switch. Causal factor: Inappropriate control program of BCM and LFU. Update to BCM will also update the IC, DOOR\_ESU\_D, DOOR\_ESU\_P, ESU modules.
