# Service bulletin B010520

A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

- Type: Service bulletin
- NHTSA id: 10177615
- Published by NHTSA: 2020\-07\-27
- Manufacturer's number: B010520
- Manufacturer's date: 2020\-06\-01
- NHTSA component: ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:EXHAUST SYSTEM:EMISSION CONTROL:GAS RECIRCULATION VALVE \(EGR VALVE\)

## NHTSA's summary

N47T/N57T EGR COOLER LTD WTY EXTENSION TO 10 YEARS WITHOUT MILEAGE LIMIT: The vehicle demonstrates a power loss and the malfunction indicator lamp \(MIL\) on. The intake manifold \(intake system\) is found to have thermal deformation or damage. Melt through may also be found in the area of the EGR inlet and randomly around the intake system.

## Other bulletins for the same vehicles and component

- [B130116](/bulletins/10151078.md), 2018-12-10, Service bulletin: FUEL SYSTEM, DIESEL; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:SOFTWARE; ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:EXHAUST SYSTEM:EMISSION CONTROL:GAS RECIRCULATION VALVE \(EGR VALVE\); ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:ENGINE:DIESEL. The DDE software application for exhaust gas recirculation control \(EGR\) does not favorably match the diesel fuel grades available in many parts of the US market. The high pressure EGR cooler could become filled with soot particulate to the point that exhaust gas flow and cooling efficiency are significantly reduced. This could result in the Service Engine Soon light coming on with EGR control / Air mass faults being stored in the DDE.
- [111314](/bulletins/10148216.md), 2018-11-13, Service bulletin: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:SOFTWARE; ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:EXHAUST SYSTEM:EMISSION CONTROL:GAS RECIRCULATION VALVE \(EGR VALVE\). N57T Diesel with Fault Code 29EB00: EGR Cooling Plausibility. The Service Engine Soon lamp is on \(MIL\) with the following fault stored in the DDE: 29EB00 \- EGR cooling, plausibility: Exhaust\-gas recirculation cooler bypass flap faulty or cooler efficiency too low CAUSE Unfavorable DDE software.
- [B130216](/bulletins/10147004.md), 2018-11-05, Service bulletin: ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:EXHAUST SYSTEM:EMISSION CONTROL:GAS RECIRCULATION VALVE \(EGR VALVE\); ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:SOFTWARE. DDE FAULT CODE 290900 AFTER PROGRAMMING. The engine has a hesitation and the Service Engine Soon lamp is on after programming the vehicle to an Integration level of 16\-07\-500. The following fault code may be stored: 290900 \- Air system, air to EGR exhaust mass flow plausibility Unfavorable DDE software application The fault will be stored if terminal 15 is switched on, and then off, without starting the engine.
