# Service bulletin SB42\-078

A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

Freightliner Service Bulletin for Meritor Steer Axle Drum Brake Squeal. Some Cascadia and New Cascadia vehicles equipped with Meritor steer axle drum brakes with a front axle rating less than 13,300 lb \(6038 kg\) have experienced brake squealing noise when the service brakes are applied at lower speeds. NOTE: This is a nuisance noise issue and not a failure. The solution given in this service bulletin may fix this issue.
