## NHTSA's summary

After starting the engine, the instrument cluster display \(A40/16\) may show "4MATIC inoperative" erroneously.Notes: Vehicles not equipped with 4MATIC are predominantly affected. However, in some circumstances a 4MATIC vehicle can also display this message. Previous software release of the instrument cluster control unit \(N133/1\) Ensure that no complaints exist regarding the 4MATIC system. If no other complaints exist, perform a software update of the instrument cluster control unit \(N133/1\).
