# Service bulletin MC110120

A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

## NHTSA's summary

BMW Motorrad has ascertained that the engine installed in the affected vehicles may have a burr present in the guide bore for the oil supply of the timing chain. The burr can dislodge over time due to vibrations and oil pressure fluctuations \(incl. temperature influences\). This can cause a narrowing or restriction of an oil duct or oil spray nozzle. A lack of lubrication \(e.g. the timing chain\) or insufficient cooling \(e.g. the piston\) can be the result.
