# Service bulletin B160220

A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

## NHTSA's summary

FUEL PUMP CONTROL UNIT \(EKP\) DIAGNOSIS AND REPLACEMENT: INFORMATION The Fuel Pump Control Unit \(EKP\) replacement rate and replaced parts have been extensively analyzed by BMW and its suppliers. The EKP has not been found defective during the component testing therefore the EKP is not the root cause of any known complaints or systematic defects. Always perform the test plans for the applicable faults stored in the car. Do not replace the EKP unless the test plan specifically states to replace the EKP. If you discover a situation where the EKP is defective please create and submit an Info Only TSARA case with "EKP Failure" in the subject line. Please describe the type of failure how you determined the failure or the troubleshooting steps you performed to reach the conclusion.
