# Service bulletin TSB 20\-2172

A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

- [SSM 54857](/bulletins/11032924.md), 2026-05-26, Service bulletin: FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM. 2020\-2026 Explorer/Escape/Corsair, 2021\-2026 Bronco Sport/Bronco, 2022\-2026 Maverick, 2024\-2026 Mustang/Ranger/Nautilus vehicles equipped with a 2.0L or 2.3L EcoBoost engine may require removal of the turbocharger wastegate control actuator linkage for various reasons. The Workshop Manual \(WSM\), Section 303\-04 Fuel Charging and Controls \- Turbocharger \- 2.0L/2.3L EcoBoost \> Removal and Installation \> Wastegate Control Actuator Linkage service procedure been added. In addition, the wastegate actuator rod \(9E408\), associated retention springs \(9342\) and retaining clips \(00817\) have been released as lower\-level components to complete the repair without replacing the entire turbocharger wastegate actuator assembly.
- [SSM 54615](/bulletins/11029540.md), 2026-03-04, Service bulletin: FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; POWER TRAIN. Some 2020\-2026 Escape and 2021\-2026 Corsair vehicles equipped with a 2.5L engine may exhibit a fuel door that won't open with diagnostic trouble code \(DTC\) P04CA stored in the powertrain control module \(PCM\). This may be due to an open circuit on circuit SBB05 and/or a damaged splice S133. Before performing the pinpoint test for P04CA in Workshop Manual \(WSM\), Section 310\-00, inspect circuit SBB05 and splice S133 for damage such as an open circuit. Repair as necessary. Refer to Wiring Diagram, Cell 005. If no damage is found, refer to WSM, Section 310\-00 for normal diagnostics. For claiming use causal 14290 and labor operations 12650D, 12650D45, and 12650D45WR.
- [25M02](/bulletins/11026929.md), 2026-01-05, Other: ENGINE; FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM; UNKNOWN OR OTHER. Customer Satisfaction Program 25M02 Certain 2021\-2024 Model Year Bronco Sport and 2020\-2022 Escape with 1.5L Engine and 8F35 Transmission Upstream Catalytic Converter Replacement, If Required
- [SSM 54312](/bulletins/11024525.md), 2025-10-28, Service bulletin: FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM. Some 2020\-2026 Escape and 2021\-2026 Corsair PHEV vehicles may require inspection of the high voltage battery due to rust, scratches, curb strikes, road debris, or other minor damage. Section 414\-03A of the Workshop Manual \(WSM\) has recently been updated to improve diagnostics for such damage and provides a list of low\-level serviceable components for instances where replacement of the high voltage battery assembly is not warranted. Refer to WSM, Section 414\-03A High Voltage Battery, Mounting and Cables \> Diagnosis and Testing \> High Voltage Battery Minor Damage Inspection. The Ford New Vehicle Limited Warranty covers manufacturing defects resulting from a defect in factory supplied materials or workmanship. Please refer to the Warranty section WHAT IS NOT COVERED, which includes curb strikes and accidents.
- [SSM 53982](/bulletins/11020053.md), 2025-07-02, Service bulletin: FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM. Some 2020\-2023 Explorer/Aviator, 2020\-2025 Police Interceptor Utility, 2020\-2022 Escape/Corsair, and 2022\-2024 Maverick vehicles equipped with a hybrid powertrain may exhibit an illuminated malfunction indicator lamp \(MIL\) with diagnostic trouble code \(DTC\) P2450:00 stored in the powertrain control module \(PCM\). This may be due to an evaporative emission system concern or may also be caused by the customer overfilling the fuel tank. If this condition occurs, perform normal diagnosis per Workshop Manual \(WSM\) Section, 303\-13 and repair as necessary. Inform the customer that the condition may have been caused by overfilling of the fuel tank and to not top\-off the fuel tank when the fuel pump nozzle automatically shuts off for the first time. Refer the customer to the Fuel and Refueling section of their Owner Manual for additional information.
- [TSB 22\-2433](/bulletins/10228761.md), 2023-01-05, Service bulletin: FUEL SYSTEM, DIESEL:STORAGE:TANK ASSEMBLY. This article supersedes TSB 22\-2176 to increase the labor operation allowance and update the part list. Some 2020\-2022 Escape/Corsair vehicles built on or before 3\-Jan\-2022, 2020\-2022 Explorer vehicles built on or before 14\-Feb\-2022, 2020\-2022 Aviator vehicles built on or before 07\-Feb\-2022 and 2021\-2022 Bronco Sport vehicles built on or before 3\-Dec\-2021 may exhibit a slow fuel fill and/or spit back condition during refueling.
