# Service bulletin 2035688/1

A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

- Type: Service bulletin
- NHTSA id: 10170295

## NHTSA's summary

Mulsanne front suspension 'chattering' noise Customer statement / workshop findings: There is a chattering noise which is audible from the front end/engine compartment when braking or when driving on rough road surfaces. Technical background: The right and left hand front upper wishbone levers have been identified as the source of the chattering noise which is audible within the cabin particularly when driving on rough road surfaces or when braking. New specification brackets are now available, the latest specification brackets are wider which increases the distance between the upper wishbone and the bracket, the increased distance eliminates contact between the two components. The right and left hand side front upper wishbones brackets and upper wishbones must be replaced along with all applicable fixings.

Air spring fault finding Customer Statement: \-The front and/or rear suspension appears to have dropped Technical Background: \-Bentley vehicles which are applicable to this TPI are fitted with air springs as part of the suspension system. Should air leak from the air spring dampers, this will cause the suspension to drop. However, the dropping of the suspension does not necessarily mean that the air spring is faulty. \-The Measure section of this TPI describes how and where to check for air leaks on the front and rear air springs, the air supply unit, pipes, valve unit and air reservoirs. This includes potential air leak points on the air spring dampers and also the locations of an air leak that can be repaired without the need to replace an air spring damper.

Customer statement / workshop findings: The front and/or rear suspension appears to have dropped. Technical background: The list of Bentley vehicles below are fitted with air springs as part of the suspension system. Should air leak from the air springs, this will cause the suspension to drop. However, the dropping of the suspension does not necessarily mean that the air spring is faulty. The Measure section of this TPI describes how and where to check for air leaks on the front and rear air springs, the air pump compressor, pipes, valve unit and air reservoirs. - [2025177/3](/bulletins/10170219.md), 2020-07-28, Service bulletin: SUSPENSION. Mulsanne damper suspension noise Customer statement / workshop findings: Occasional pneumatic whooping noise from the front suspension and infrequently from the rear suspension. The noise occurs when driving over speed humps, driving on uneven surfaces at high speeds or mounting kerbs Technical background: Occasional whooping noise emanating from the front or rear suspension. The noise can be apparent when driving over speed humps above 15 MPH, driving on uneven surfaces at high speeds or when mounting or dropping down from kerbs. The whooping noise is very difficult to replicate, and is evident only after a long drive cycle No further action is required. Measure: This is an understood phenomena under specific dynamic conditions and is therefore categorised as normal vehicle operation and as such does not require further investigation
