# Service bulletin B641019

A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

- Type: Service bulletin
- NHTSA id: 10169471
- Published by NHTSA: 2019\-12\-16
- Manufacturer's number: B641019
- Manufacturer's date: 2019\-11\-01
- NHTSA component: ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

## NHTSA's summary

SERVICE ACTION: OPTIMIZING THE WATER DRAIN. The water drain in the engine compartment's passenger side cowl near the firewall may be inadequate during exceptionally high water volumes. Water can accumulate and not drain out quickly enough. This can result in various Check Control messages and the failure of various systems such as: Park Distance Control \(PDC\) Dynamic Stability Control \(DSC\) Windshield washer This may be caused by one or more parts: Lack of a cowl drainage shaft cover Lid on the ventilation microfilter housing lacks water drainage channels \(only on vehicles prior to July 2013 production\).

## Other bulletins for the same vehicles and component

- [B010125](/bulletins/11021799.md), 2025-08-12, Warranty extension: ENGINE. The Exhaust Gas Recirculation \(EGR\) Cooler limited warranty for defects in materials and / or workmanship has been extended to 25 years without mileage limit as determined from the original first in\-service / delivery date.
- [B010921](/bulletins/11012067.md), 2024-12-31, Warranty extension: ENGINE. The NVLD limited emission related warranty for defects in materials or workmanship has been extended to 15 years/150,000 miles as determined from the original in\-service date.
- [B640422](/bulletins/10250374.md), 2024-03-02, Service bulletin: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; VISIBILITY:DEFROSTER/DEFOGGER/HVAC SYSTEM. An interference noise \(groaning noise\) can be heard from within the heating and air\-conditioning unit in thecenter of the instrument panel. The groaning noise always occurs when either a ventilation flap, air stratification flap or the recirculated airflap moves to a different position. Due to the complex design of the heating and air\-conditioning unit, the kinematics causing it \(top or bottom, left or right\) may not be able to be precisely located. Depending on the vehicle model, the number of servomotors \(and the associated kinematics unit\) varies.Various models use either 2 or 3 servomotors.
- [B010520](/bulletins/10249439.md), 2024-02-01, Service bulletin: ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. The vehicle demonstrates a power loss and the malfunction indicator lamp \(MIL\) on. The following fault codes may be stored in the DDE: 24CE00 Hot film air mass meter: Ratio of measured to calculated air mass too high 27F000 Charge air hose monitoring in idle: Charge air hose fallen down 290900 Air system, air to EGR air mass flow plausibility: Measured air mass compared to calculated air mass too high 290A00 Air system, air to EGR air mass flow plausibility: measured air mass compared to calculated air mass too high and high charging pressure control deviation
- [B510819](/bulletins/10249437.md), 2024-02-01, Service bulletin: VISIBILITY:POWER WINDOW DEVICES AND CONTROLS; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. The basic conditions for initializing the power windows are not met.
- [B170122](/bulletins/10249425.md), 2024-02-01, Service bulletin: ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. The Check Control message below appears even though the coolant level is not below minimum when theengine is cold. Check Control message \(ID 166\): Top up coolant.
- [B610524](/bulletins/10249032.md), 2024-02-01, Service bulletin: EQUIPMENT:ELECTRICAL:INFOTAINMENT; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. The Central Information Display goes black intermittently due to resets of the Head Unit \(HU\-H3\). FaultB7F8F9 â“ âHU\-H: Resetâ will be stored in the HU\-H3.
- [B611305](/bulletins/10249027.md), 2024-02-01, Service bulletin: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. The electrical system of BMW vehicles has been subject to an ongoing development process over the last few years. This has led to increased demands being placed on the battery. This document covers important information for the dealer on how to handle “discharged battery” complaints.
- [B010919](/bulletins/10245364.md), 2023-12-06, Service bulletin: ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. DIESEL FUEL INJECTORS: LTD WTY EXTENSION TO 10 YEARS/120,000 MILES
- [B651523](/bulletins/10238090.md), 2023-06-26, Service bulletin: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. After programming the head unit \(HU\-H2\), activating the FSC \(German word Freischaltcode\) Enabling Codes repeatedly fails.
