# Service bulletin SSM 48154

A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

## NHTSA's summary

Some 2019 Transit Connect vehicles built on 28\-May\-2018 and through 24\-Oct\-2018 may exhibit lack of power steering assist, diagnostic trouble code \(DTC\) U0131 present, lost communication with the power steering control module \(PSCM\), the body control module \(BCM\), the instrument cluster \(IC\), and/or the steering column control module \(SCCM\). Inspect mega fuse F2 \(80 Amp\) powering the PSCM. Some F2 fuses may be open due to over tightening and may need replacement. If the fuse integrity is verified, proceed with standard repair processes.

- [SSM 48233](/bulletins/10167195.md), 2019-11-05, Service bulletin: STEERING. Some 2019\-2020 Transit Connect vehicles built on or after 28\-May\-2018 may exhibit lack of power steering assist with diagnostic trouble code \(DTC\) U0131 present and a loss of communication with the power steering control module \(PSCM\), the body control module \(BCM\), the instrument cluster \(IC\), and/or the steering column control module \(SCCM\). Inspect mega fuse F2 \(80 Amp\) powering the PSCM. Some F2 fuses may be open due to over tightening and may need replacement. If the fuse integrity is verified, proceed with standard repair processes. Base casual part number is 14290 which is the fuse box/harness assembly.
- [SSM 48205](/bulletins/10165687.md), 2019-10-04, Service bulletin: STEERING. Some 2019\-2020 Transit Connect vehicles built on or after 28\-May\-2018 may experience a lack of power steering assist or a power steering fault in the message center at start up which may occur after a discharged battery. Do not replace the steering rack and pinion or the power steering control module \(PSCM\) for this condition. Reprogram the PSCM with the latest level of the appropriate Ford diagnostic scan tool. Use applicable labor operations in Section 03 of the Service Labor Time Standards \(SLTS\) Manual.

Some 2019 Transit Connect vehicles built on or after 28\-May\-2018 may experience a lack of power steering assist or a power steering fault message in the message center. It is important to avoid cycling the ignition switch. Charge the battery and remove the vehicle from transportation mode. If diagnostic trouble codes \(DTCs\) U3003 and U2011 are stored, attempt to recover the PSCM by performing module programming. If the vehicle has DTCs U3003, U3000, U2011 and the PSCM will not communicate with the diagnostic scan tool, replace the PSCM.
