# Service bulletin 44\-030

A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

- Type: Service bulletin
- NHTSA id: 10164402
- Published by NHTSA: 2019\-09\-05
- Manufacturer's number: 44\-030
- Manufacturer's date: 2019\-08\-30
- NHTSA component: FUEL SYSTEM, DIESEL

## NHTSA's summary

Fix\-As\-Fail \- Nylon fuel lines may be too short, potentially resulting in a cracked or loose, low pressure fuel fitting at the engine or fuel tank, which may introduce air into the fuel system resulting in a hard\-to\-start or no\-start condition.

## Other bulletins for the same vehicles and component

- [CE036](/bulletins/11032291.md), 2026-05-06, Warranty extension: FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM. KW \& PB DEF Quality Sensor part number Q21\-6127\-001 for PACCAR PX\-7 and Cummins X15 engines has been added to this warranty policy.
- [03\-087 \(E295\)](/bulletins/10232496.md), 2023-03-06, Service bulletin: FUEL SYSTEM, OTHER:FUEL FILTER; ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. Certain Model Year 2021\-2024 chassis with PACCAR MX engines and optional fuel filter restriction virtual gauge may display incorrect restriction levels. The virtual gauge will be temporarily disabled until a revised sensor strategy is developed.
- [21PBN](/bulletins/10227172.md), 2022-12-05, Service bulletin: FUEL SYSTEM, DIESEL:STORAGE:TANK ASSEMBLY; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. 21PBN – LNG/CNG Methane Detecti on System Will Not Warn Operator if System Loses Power – NHTSA ID:21V00N, TC: 2021\-793
- [21PBN](/bulletins/10207154.md), 2022-02-04, Service bulletin: FUEL SYSTEM, DIESEL:STORAGE:TANK ASSEMBLY; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; EQUIPMENT. Interim Safety Recall – Methane detection system will not warn the operator if the system loses power. The driver could be unaware of an issue with the methane detection system or excessive methane present, increasing the risk of a fire, crash and/or personal injury. The repair procedure will be added when it is available.
- [43\-071](/bulletins/10201965.md), 2021-10-05, Service bulletin: FUEL SYSTEM, DIESEL. Fix\-As\-Fail – Due to undersupply issues, only a limited supply of Diesel Exhaust Fluid \(DEF\) sensors are available. As a temporary solution, after PACCAR confirms a DEF sensor is not available, a temporary software update will allow a vehicle to continue operation with a failed DEF sensor by disabling the DEF sensor diagnostics.
- [21\-PBD](/bulletins/10198809.md), 2021-07-06, Service bulletin: FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE. Safety Recall – Cummins Fuel Rail Leak – NHTSA ID: 21V391 / TC: 2021\-323, Cummins Recall: C2423. Cummins PX9 and ISX12 fuel rails may leak around a sealing washer, potentially resulting in fuel leaks. Undetected prolonged diesel fuel spray in the presence of an ignition source may increase the risk of fire.
- [21KWC](/bulletins/10198759.md), 2021-07-06, Service bulletin: FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE.
- [44\-031](/bulletins/10182221.md), 2020-11-05, Service bulletin: FUEL SYSTEM, DIESEL; EQUIPMENT; SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC. Non\-safety campaign: Peterbilt has determined that vehicles meeting the criteria below may exhibit interference between the fuel line fittings on the Davco fuel filter and the brake chamber due to insufficient clearance. Repeated contact between the fuel filter fuel line fittings and the brake chamber may cause the fittings to break and leak or may cause canister damage. Model 579/567 vehicles Model Years 2018 and 2019 built between 01/16/2017 and 07/09/2018 equipped with a return fuel heated DAVCO 382 fuel filter, short hood, Set Back Front Axle \(SBFA\) and one of the following: Front drum brakes Disc brakes with DANA E\-Series axles Disc brakes with Meritor MFS20 axles Disc brakes with DANA D2000 axles
- [44\-029](/bulletins/10136234.md), 2018-05-07, Service bulletin: FUEL SYSTEM, OTHER:FUEL FILTER; ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING; SERVICE BRAKES, AIR:DISC:CHAMBER. Non\-Safety Campaign \- The coolant lines connected to the fuel filter may interfere with the brake chamber on certain T680/T880 vehicles. Repeated interference may cause the fittings to break and leak coolant.
- [51\-009](/bulletins/10092225.md), 2017-02-18, Service bulletin: FUEL SYSTEM, OTHER. NON\-SAFETY CAMPAIGN \- POSSIBLE ASSEMBLY AND PROGRAMMING ISSUES WITH THE PCC SYSTEM MAY REDUCE THE FUEL SAVINGS BENEFIT OF PCC.
