Service bulletin TSB1800470606201

A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

NHTSA's summary

This Technical Service Bulletin describes the verification and resolution of Diesel exhaust fluid (DEF) dosing unit heater elements becoming discolored caused by chemical reactions between DEF and the aluminum housing. The DEF dosing valve inlet screen can become plugged with debris when corrosion on the DEF dosing unit heating element flakes off typically leading to fault code (FC) FC1682, FC3574, and/or FC3596. Additional DEF system related fault codes can be present. This is an update to a previously submitted communication.
