Service bulletin VSE-17-10
A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

NHTSA's summary
With the addition of Enhanced Flooded Batteries (EFB) to our vehicles, Volkswagen Group of America would like to provide you with some important information regarding battery service strategies and EFB charging. Currently, there are no menu options in the INC-940 or GRX-3000-VAS battery chargers to support EFB charging. Beginning July 15th we will release a software update and installation instructions for the GRX-3000-VAS which will include EFB charging technology.
