Some 2017-2019 F-Super Duty, 2017-2019 Continental, 2016-2019 Edge, 2016-2018 MKX, 2019 Nautilus vehicles may exhibit a U3000:49 diagnostic trouble code (DTC) setting in the Steering Effort Control Module (SECM) with no other DTCs present. To eliminate the DTC, perform the IDS SASM module reset routine. The IDS reset routine is available under Toolbox > Chassis > Steering > Adaptive Front Steering > SASM Module Reset. Do not attempt any repairs at this time. Engineering is investigating, monitor OASIS for updates. For claiming, use causal part 3600 and applicable labor operations in Section 10 of the Service Labor Time Standards (SLTS) Manual.

Other bulletins for the same vehicles and component
SSM 521882024-01-24. Service bulletin. 2024 F-Super Duty vehicles are equipped with XL-22 (WSS-M2C184-A1) high temperature power steering fluid that looks like clear hydraulic fluid. This fluid is an improvement in high temperature and thermal oxidative stability compared to Mercon LV. This power steering fluid is also compatible and highly recommended to use when filling or topping off power steering systems of all 2012-2023 F-Super Duty vehicles originally equipped with Mercon LV.
SSM 511042022-10-03. Service bulletin. Some 2017-2019 F-Super Duty vehicles equipped with adaptive steering may require steering wheel replacement for various reasons. The steering wheel assembly contains the steering effort control module (SECM) and steering angle sensor module (SASM). Previous software versions of the Integrated Diagnostic Software (IDS) scan tool may not have programed the SECM properly after replacement. Engineering has corrected the concern and SECM programming can now be successfully performed on these vehicles using the latest software level of IDS.
20N04-S12022-06-13. Service bulletin. Certain 2017 through 2019 Model Year F250/350 4x4 and all F450/550 Vehicles - Steering Linkage Damper Replacement. In some of the affected vehicles, customers may experience sustained steering wheel oscillation after hitting rough pavement or an expansion joint at speeds typically above 45 mph (72 Km/h).
Service2021-12-20. Service bulletin. Online automotive service information system for March 2016
TSB 21-21732021-06-03. Service bulletin. Some 2017-2019 F-250/F-350 4WD vehicles may exhibit a sustained steering wheel oscillation after hitting rough pavement or an expansion joint above 45 mph (72 km/h). This may be due to excessive lag/lash of the steering linkage damper. To correct the condition, follow the Service Procedure to replace the steering linkage damper.
SSM 497402021-05-03. Service bulletin. Some 2017-2021 F-Super Duty four-wheel drive (4WD) vehicles may have a customer concern of intermittently exhibiting excessive steering oscillation. To correct the condition, replace the steering damper with KC3Z-3E651-B and return the vehicle to the customer. For claiming, use causal part 3E651 and applicable labor operations in Section 03 of the Service Labor Time Standards (SLTS) Manual. If the concern returns, refer to the updated procedures, with videos, in Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 211-03 Steering Linkage > Diagnosis and Testing > Symptom Chart.
SSM 496932021-03-31. Service bulletin. For 2017-2019 F-Super Duty vehicles equipped with adaptive steering and require steering wheel replacement, corrections for SASM and SECM module programming errors have been included in IDS level 121.03. Using IDS software level 121.03, start a NEW session and run the Programmable Module Installation (PMI) procedure. Follow the remaining procedures in Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 211-04 to complete the steering wheel installation.
SSM 496282021-03-03. Service bulletin. Some 2017-2021 F-Super Duty vehicles may intermittently exhibit excessive steering oscillation. A new instructional video has been published in the Workshop Manual (WSM) to provide specific measurement instructions on the appropriate tools and methods to determine which steering linkage joints are exceeding lash specifications and which are operating as designed. The left side tie rod end and sector shaft arm drag link joints should not be replaced without obtaining the proper lash measurements. Refer to WSM, Section 211-03 Steering Linkage > Diagnosis and Testing > Symptom Chart.
SSM 488772020-07-07. Service bulletin. Some 2017-2019 F-Super Duty vehicles equipped with a 6.7L diesel engine may exhibit an illuminated malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) with diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) P2B11, P2B13, P2B15, P2B17, P2B19, P2B1B, P2B1D and/or P2B1F. If these codes have set with a customer complaint of abnormal steering wheel oscillation, clear these DTCs and address any steering related concerns. If these DTCs do not return, do not make any fuel injector related repairs. The abnormal steering wheel oscillation event may be generating noise on the camshaft or crankshaft sensor frequency resulting in these DTCs to set.
20N042020-05-05. Service bulletin. In some of the affected vehicles, customers may experience sustained steering wheel oscillation after hitting rough pavement or an expansion joint at speeds typically above 45 mph (72 Km/h).
