Service bulletin SIL 690

A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

NHTSA's summary

This Service Information Letter (SIL) notified customers that Altec offered capacity options on some AM60E units that later were found to cause limited functions in certain boom positions. This can allow the operator to lift loads within the stated capacity specifications, but due to a lack or unit performance, can not be returned from all boom positions. Specifically this may result in the upper boom being unable to raise from an overcenter position due to hydraulic limitations. Note that the unit meets all stability requirements of the ANSI A92.2 standard with the original rated capacities. Altec is providing customers with affected units the necessary parts in kits to be able to accurately state the capacity for the unit.
