# Service bulletin MC1200115

A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

## NHTSA's summary

Alternator regulator for models: A modification has been made to the electronics of the alternator regulator. This has not resulted in a change to the part number \(12 31 7 718 422\). The label affixed to the rear of the component indicates the difference in version status. The new version \(FH020CA\) is the only one available as a replacement part. This new alternator regulator \(FH020CA\) should never be installed without a fuse as protection against polarity reversal. If the new alternator regulator were to be installed without this fuse being integrated into the wiring harness, polarity reversal could result in very severe damage to the vehicle.
