Service bulletin CMI-L9V8U-12

A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

NHTSA's summary

This customer communication was issued to authorize Cummins Service locations to install a new belt at each oil change interval on ISV5.0 engines equipped with option CP80009 installed in Blue Bird school buses. As the belt ages, the engine may experience air compressor belt slippage resulting in decreased air compressor output. This was authorized as an interim measure until a permanent solution is identified. Cummins reported this issue to NHTSA as a safety defect by submitting an Equipment Report on the Safety Recall Portal on December 5, 2018.
