NHTSA's summary
BMW Thermostat Situation Part Number 8635689 (Update). We continue to be in a backorder situation for part number 11 53 8 635 689. Once we release our current inventory, there will be approximately 410 pcs on backorder. As stock arrives, we are manually releasing the oldest backorders first. We have 1,510 pcs in transit and 2,146 pcs available in dealer inventory; please use locator for car down situations. Please use the limited supply for car down situations only and do not order for stock. Orders over 3 pcs per day will be cancelled. Until the backorder situation is resolved, we ask to please remove from automatic replenishment and SRD ordering. During the daily manual allocation process, the part will be blocked from normal ordering at the following estimated times depending on volumes: 10:00 am to 12:00 pm EST (East Coast Dealers should get VOR orders in before 10:00 am) 4:00 pm to 5:00 pm EST (West Coast Dealers should get VOR orders in before 1:00 pm PST) We will continue to provide weekly updates.
