Service bulletin MC3200212

A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

NHTSA's summary

Within the framework of quality monitoring, BMW Motorrad has ascertained that the wrong screws were used for the handlebar clamping blocks on a small number of vehicles (approx. 48 in the US). If these threaded fasteners are re-installed in the course of repair work or a retrofit, there is a possibility of the threads in the tapped holes of the clamping blocks being damaged.
