Service bulletin TSB 18-2321

A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

NHTSA's summary

Some 2015-2018 Transit vehicles built on or before 24-Jul-2018 may exhibit various drivability concerns including difficulty starting, misfires and/or an illuminated MIL with diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) P00BD, P1247, P1548, P061B, P2195, P2198, P2196, P2197, P0171, P0172, P0174, P0175, P0131 and/or P162F stored in the powertrain control module (PCM). This may be due to undesired water entry into the engine compartment directly over powertrain components. Follow the Service Procedure steps to correct the condition.

Other bulletins for the same vehicles and component
SSM 498212021-06-01. Service bulletin. Some 2015-2021 Ford and Lincoln vehicles may exhibit an illuminated MIL with diagnostic trouble codes (DTC) P0011, P0012, P0014, P0015, P0016, P0017, P0018, P0019, P0021, P0022, P0024 and/or P0025. This may be due to small debris causing the VCT solenoid to stick. Before attempting any component diagnosis or replacement of the VCT solenoid, refer to Powertrain Control and Emissions Diagnosis (PC/ED) pinpoint test HK11 to cycle the affected VCT solenoid 10 times to attempt to clear the debris. For claiming, use causal part 6M280 and applicable labor operations in Section 10 of the Service Labor Time Standards (SLTS) Manual.
TSB 19-20122019-04-01. Service bulletin. Some 2015 Transit vehicles equipped with a 3.2L engine may exhibit an illuminated MIL with DTCs P24A0 and/or P26A0 stored in the powertrain control module (PCM). Follow the Service Procedure steps to correct the condition.
SSM 472572018-05-21. Service bulletin. Some 2018 F-150, Expedition, Navigator, Transit and Explorer vehicles may exhibit an illuminated MIL with DTC P025A stored in the powertrain control module (PCM). This may be due to an intermittent or partial disconnect of the harness to the fuel pump driver module (FPDM) connector. Confirm FPDM connector (F-150 C4336, Expedition/Navigator C433, Transit C433, Explorer C3239) is fully seated prior to performing PC/ED diagnostics or replacing any components. Engineering is investigating, monitor OASIS for updates.
SSM 471992018-05-21. Service bulletin. Some 2018 Transit/F-650/F-750/F-Super Duty vehicles equipped with 6.7L or 3.2L diesel engines may exhibit a diagnostic trouble code (DTC) P2002. The 2018 Powertrain Control/Emissions Diagnosis (PC/ED) Manual pinpoint test RB for DTC P2002 does not reflect the most current diagnostic information. Refer to the 2017 PC/ED for F-Super Duty diesel engine vehicles for the latest diagnostic information. Monitor OASIS for updates.
SSM 471702018-05-21. Service bulletin. Some vehicles may exhibit an illuminated MIL with diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) P0011, P0012, P0014, P0015, P0016, P0017, P0018, P0019, P0021, P0022, P0024 and/or P0025.
TSB18-20942018-05-21. Service bulletin. Some 2016-2018 Transit vehicles equipped with a 3.2L Duratorq diesel engine and built on or before 13-Feb-2018 may exhibit an illuminated MIL with diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) P24A0 and/or P26A0 in the powertrain control module (PCM). Follow the Service Procedure steps to correct the condition.
SSM 470852018-05-14. Service bulletin. Some 2018 Transit vehicles equipped with a 3.2L diesel built on or after 01-Nov-2017 may indicate a blank PCM when connected to the Ford Integrated Diagnostic System (IDS) or Ford J2534 Diagnostic Software (FJDS). Follow the IDS prompts to recover the PCM. This may take several attempts. Do not replace the PCM. Engineering is investigating the issue. Please monitor OASIS for updates.
SSM 469002018-01-29. Service bulletin. Some vehicles may exhibit a no start condition with an illuminated malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) and a DTC P161A after PCM replacement. This may be due to the parameter reset procedure not being properly completed. To clear this DTC, use the Ford Integrated Diagnostic System (IDS) service tool or Ford J2534 Diagnostic Software, select - Toolbox - Body - Security - PATS Functions - Parameter Reset. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the procedure. This procedure will transfer the existing Key ID information between the modules without the need of having 2 programmed PATS keys present. There is no need to program keys when the PCM is going to be replaced. Additional information can be found in the Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 419-01. Missing or lost keys are not warrantable.
SSM 468902017-12-14. Service bulletin. Some 2017 F-Super Duty/2016-2017 F650-750 equipped with 6.7L diesel engines and 2015-2017 Transit equipped with 3.2L diesel engines may exhibit a MIL on with diagnostic trouble code (DTC) P206C stored in powertrain control module(PCM). This may be due to incorrect diesel exhaust fluid (DEF) concentration. Prior to performing Powertrain Control and Emissions Diagnosis (PC/ED) pinpoint test RJ, ensure DEF concentration is checked using Central Tools Refractometer tool number CEN3R201 and if DEF contamination is suspected use the Rotunda Hydrocarbon Test Kit tool number 328-480508.
SSM 460662017-08-01. Service bulletin. Some 2013-2017 F-Super Duty, 2015-2017 Transit and 2016-2017 F650-F750 vehicles equipped with a diesel engine may exhibit diagnostic trouble code (DTC) P2201 (NOX Sensor Circuit Range/Performance Bank 1 Sensor 1) in the powertrain control module (PCM). When repairing DTC P2201, refer to the online version of the powertrain control/emission diagnostic (PC/ED) manual for the latest diagnostics. The pinpoint test RD and diagnostic trouble code chart have been updated in section 4 and 5 for DTC P2201.
