Service bulletin MC4600214

A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

NHTSA's summary

BMW Motorrad has ascertained that the steering stop is not always welded in the exact center of the steering head of the front frame (Figure 1). Therefore Mounted parts (e.g. multifunction switch) on the handlebars could come into contact with the fuel-tank cover on one side when the handlebars are turned to the full-lock position. Also if the handlebars are set to a forward tilt of approximately 10 degrees, there is a possibility of the mirror arm or the hand protector coming into contact with the windscreen.
