Service bulletin M210115

A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

NHTSA's summary

"B38, B46, and B48 Engines: Clutch Operation, Engine Noise, and Drivability Complaints. The vehicle exhibits one the following complaints: z The customer notices an increased level of ""free play"" in the clutch pedal when changing gears. z The clutch pedal remains depressed and will not return to the disengaged position. z Noise from the lower engine area described as a high-pitched whine z Loss of power when idling z At a higher engine speed (above 3,000 rpm), a brief decrease in the engine speed can be felt. z Extended cranking before the engine will start z Emergency operation is active with one or more of the faults listed below. One or more of the following faults may be stored in the vehicle: z 160020 Crankshaft sensor, signal: implausible z 180001 Catalytic converter: efficiency too low z 200D0C Powertrain, safety function: bus signal rpm reduction implausible z 11A002 Fuel high pressure, plausibility: Pressure too low z 1F054D Powertrain, safety function: powertrain reduced power, DSC-signal implausible Note: If additional faults are found in the DME memory (e.g., misfire, camshaft sensor, knock sensor, etc.), then those faults will be the primary focus of the diagnosis using the test plans provided for those faults. ""FC 120408 Boost pressure control: Shut-down as a consecutive reaction"" is only a result of the component fault and is not the primary reason for the complaint or illumination of the engine malfunction warning."

M2301082019-01-07. Service bulletin. "MANUAL TRANSMISSION - STIFF DIAGONAL GEARSHIFT LEVER MOVEMENT. The customer may complain of a ""stiff diagonal shift"" (e.g., N-R, R-N, 2-3/3-2 or 4-5/5-4). Also, in some cases, gears cannot be selected, or the selector gear does not go into the neutral position. CAUSE 1. The deflection lever circlip of the gearshift mechanism is damaged or missing. 2. Possible corrosion at the gearshift mechanism (shift cables or transmission gearshift unit)"
M2501142018-12-17. Service bulletin. The manual transmission gear shift knob easily comes off the shift rod with minimal upward force. The retaining tabs on the shifter knob do not hold securely to the shifter rod.
M1102162018-12-10. Service bulletin. "SI M11 02 16 February 2016 Engine Technical Service This Service Information bulletin supersedes SI M11 02 16 dated February 2016.. The upper crankshaft guide bearing may wear out prematurely. The wear on the guide bearing can cause the clutch pedal to malfunction during shifting. The Engine Malfunction Warning may be illuminated and a fault will be stored in the DME memory for the crankshaft sensor. Noise may be heard from the lower engine and transmission bell housing area and engine damage can occur in rare occasions. This Service Action involves ""382"" F55 and F56 vehicles produced from February 2014 to December 2014. Vehicles which require this Service Action to be completed will show it as ""Open"" when checked either in the ""Service Menu"" of DCSnet (Dealer Communication System) or with the Key Reader. UN"
M1213152018-12-10. Service bulletin. ?SUBJECT Service Action: Program Control Units (DME) . A Check Control Message could intermittently be displayed indicating a Start/Stop Function failure. Vehicle may not restart after stopping. The following fault is stored in the DME: Fault 20BA20: clutch switch, signal: missing In addition the BDC may have the following fault stored: Fault 804084: clutch switch, plausibility fault compared to CAN signal This can occur if for example 14 gears changes are made, but the upper clutch position switch is only activated 10 times. This difference could occur when the clutch pedal is not being fully released between gear shifts or by resting a foot on the pedal so the upper switch position is not recognized.
M2502142018-11-05. Service bulletin. "eAutomatic Transmission Selector Lever Will Not Move Out of Park. The transmission selector lever cannot be disengaged from the ""P"" position. This can occur very randomly and is difficult to reproduce. No faults are stored in the EGS control unit, and no warnings are displayed in the instrument cluster. For the most part, if the vehicle is locked and goes to sleep (the light in the hazard switch goes out), the problem is no longer present. Unfavorable EGS software"
