# Service bulletin 120915

A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

- Type: Service bulletin
- NHTSA id: 10147599
- Published by NHTSA: 2018\-11\-13
- Manufacturer's number: 120915
- Manufacturer's date: 2015\-01\-01
- NHTSA component: VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL; VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL:ACCELERATOR PEDAL

## NHTSA's summary

"SUBJECT N55: Slight Surging at Constant Speeds when Accelerating Very Lightly. The vehicle shudders or surges slightly while driving at constant speeds and applying the accelerator very lightly. This symptom is most easily reproduced under light loads when the current fuel consumption is approximately 3448 miles per gallon. The current fuel consumption can selected and monitored in the instrument cluster while driving \(the ""fuel consumption, current"" option is set to active in the settings menu\). No relevant fault will be stored in the DME memory. DME software; the fuel injection rate under these conditions is too close to the minimum calculated threshold."

After a cold engine start, the idle speed may be unstable or start fluctuating up and down slightly while the vehicle is stopped. On vehicles with automatic transmissions, roughness or shuddering may be felt during this warm\-up period when diving away slowly in ""D"" or in ""R"" without depressing the accelerator pedal. No relevant errors are stored in the DME fault code memory, and these symptoms are no longer present once the engine is at operating temperature \(\> 90C\). Unfavorable DME software"

AFFECTED VEHICLES This Service Action involves F25 \(X3\) produced from December 9, 2010 to July 31, 2012. Vehicles which require this Service Action to be completed will show it as ""Open"" when checked either in the ""Service Menu"" of DCSnet \(Dealer Communication System\) or with the Key Reader."
- [B660215](/bulletins/10147689.md), 2018-11-13, Service bulletin: VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL:CRUISE CONTROL. "Remote Control Not Detected and/or Engine Will Not Start. One or more of the following situations can occur: 1. The remote control is not detected and the check control message \(CCM\) ""No remote control. Unable to start"" or ""Hold the remote control on the steering column"" is displayed. ? Fault code ""D90D1E \- LIN bus error FBD receiver 1"" is stored. 2. The engine does not start with the CCM with ""Battery in the key is dead."" However, it must work when used with the second key. ? Fault Code ""9308B0 \- ID transmitter: Battery undervoltage"" is stored. 3. The remote control is not detected and the CCM ""Central locking does not open,"" and/or ""Engine fails to start"" is displayed. If the customer tries to activate cruise control, a Check Control message ""System cannot be activated"" is displayed. CAUSE This is caused by a software error in ISTA/P 3.56.x and is planned to be resolved with ISTA/P 3.56.2."
- [B610417](/bulletins/10146644.md), 2018-11-05, Service bulletin: VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL. SLIGHT SHUDDERING UNDER ACCELERATION FROM 40\-60MPH. When initiating gradual acceleration at between 40mph to 60mph, customer may experience some minor shuddering under acceleration. Some situations that may lead to this experience would be: Gradual depressing of the accelerator pedal Change in load \(increase in road grade\) Acceleration request by cruise control The following conditions must be present for this situation to occur: "Auto eDrive" driving mode selected Engine speed of approximately 1500 rpm Transmission in Drive, running in 7th or 8th gear, Low State of Charge \(SOC\) of high voltage battery.
