Crankshaft / Crankcase Color Markings. The process to follow when crankshaft color markings cannot be identified. Should a K46 engine need a repair, which requires the replacement of the crankshaft bearings, colored markings on the crankshaft and crankcase are used to determine the correct bearing shells.
