# Service bulletin 9003029

A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

## NHTSA's summary

Part Description: Steering Column and Seals. Issue Description: If the customer complains of a steering column squeak when turning the wheel in low speed maneuvers \(parking lot, driveway\) in cold weather, the following inspection procedure will assist in preventing a misdiagnosis.\~ Inspect the suspension front coil spring to isolators. This can be done by first letting the vehicle cold soak. The noise is normally heard in temperatures ranging from 15\- 40 degrees \(F\). With one person in the vehicle turning the steering wheel, place your hand on the front spring. If a vibration is felt when the noise is heard by the vehicle occupant, the issue is from the front suspension ? not in the steering column. Do not service the steering column.
