Service bulletin SSM 47411

A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

NHTSA's summary

Some 2018 Explorers equipped with Platinum trim level built on 25-Oct-2017 and through 01-May-2018 may intermittently display a "Hill Descent Control Fault" message in the IPC briefly at start up without any diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) stored in the anti-lock brake system (ABS) module. Reprogram the IPC using the appropriate Ford scan tool or equivalent release 110.03 or higher. Make sure you are connected to the internet when entering module programming to obtain the latest updates. For claiming, use causal part 10849 and applicable labor operations in Section 10 of the Service Labor Time Standards (SLTS) Manual.
