NHTSA's summary
This Technical Service Bulletin describes the verfication and resolution of Diesel exhaust fluid (DEF) dosing unit heater elements becoming discolored caused by chemical reactions between DEF and the aluminum housing. Also the DEF dosing valve inlet screen can become plugged with debris when corrosion on the DEF dosing unit heating element flakes off typically leading to FC1682, FC3574, and/or FC3596. This is a revision to a previously submitted communication.
