# Service bulletin PC630

A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

## NHTSA's summary

30 kWh Lithium\-ion Battery Controller \(LBC\) Reprogram Voluntary Service Campaign \*\*\*\*\* Campaign Summary\*\*\*\*\* Nissan is conducting a Voluntary Service Campaign to reprogram the 30 kWh Lithium\-ion Battery Controller \(LBC\) in 2016\-17 model year LEAF vehicles. Nissan data gathering has shown the vehicle?s driving range gauge and Lithium\-ion battery capacity level gauge may indicate a range/capacity that is lower than the actual amount due to a design issue associated with an improper capacity calculation. This error results in an understated remaining charge and driving distance available. \*\*\*\*\* What Dealers Should Do \*\*\*\*\* 1. Verify if vehicles are affected by this Voluntary Service Campaign using Service Comm or DBS National Service History \- Open Campaign I.D. PC630. \- New vehicles in dealer inventory can be also be identified using DCS \(Sales\-\> Vehicle Inventory, and filter by Open Campaign\). \- Refer to NPSB 15\-460 for additional information 2. Nissan requests dealers repair any affected vehicles in retailer new or pre\-owned inventory to ensure customer satisfaction. 3. Dealers should use NTB18\-039 to correct any vehicles subject to this campaign. 4. Once repaired, dealer should submit a warranty claim and release the vehicle.

- [NTB23\-049](/bulletins/10239060.md), 2023-07-11, Service bulletin: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. 12 VOLT BATTERY TESTING FOR IN\-SERVICE VEHICLES SERVICE INFORMATION The following Service Information lists NNA procedural recommendations for establishing good connections while performing 12V battery testing. These recommendations are expected to promote uniformity during the connection process, therefore reducing the number of incorrect “Test with DCA” and “Replace” results. HINT: If 12 volt batteries are allowed to discharge for a prolonged period of time, battery life may be drastically reduced. This condition may lead to premature battery replacement and customer dissatisfaction. IMPORTANT: • CPX\-900 is now an accepted testing tool to use along with or in place of the DSS\-5000 • CPX\-900 operating instructions are found at: https://nissancpx900.midtronics.com/ • DSS\-5000 operating instructions are found at: https://nissandss5000.midtronics.com/ • DCA\-8000 is now a required testing tool to be used for all warranty replacement decisions. The DCA\-8000 is also a more efficient charger than previously available, and will charge any available 12 volt lead acid battery safely and accurately as long as all precautions and inputs are made correctly.
