## NHTSA's summary

Axle Assembly, Axle Carrier, Axle Ring and Pinion Engineering is currently investigating concerns with pinion seals on the 2014\-15 MY Ram 1500 Pick\-up with a rear axle manufactured within the October to November 2014 calendar year. Please contact Ridhan Riyal at cell \(810\) 513\-3832 for further instruction. If he cannot be reached with 15 minutes proceed with your repair.\~ The DS Limited Slip Differential operates as a torque sensing device because when torque is applied to the differential gear set the reaction forces of the bevel gears apply an axial force into the clutch system providing the torque bias. When the input torque is very low the reaction forces will decrease allowing the differential to ACT SIMILIAR TO A OPEN DIFFERENTIAL \(zero preload\). Please do not confuse this with prior model year Limited Slip Differentials. See the service manual for complete details.

The transmission case may have an improperly machined park rod guide plate mounting surface. This could cause a loss of park rod guide plate fastener clamp load and eventually the park rod guide plate fasteners may loosen. A loose park rod guide plate and fasteners may not allow the park pawl to fully engage. This condition could cause unintended vehicle movement and cause a crash without warning. Chrysler will conduct a voluntary safety recall on all involved vehicles to inspect the transmission case. Transmissions found with an improperly machined park rod guide plate mounting surface must be replaced. Dealers will be notified of the launch of this safety recall by way of established methods used in the past.
