Service bulletin SSM 47070

A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

NHTSA's summary

When connecting the Vehicle Communication Module (VCM) and Integrated Diagnostic System (IDS) or Ford Diagnosis and Repair System (FDRS) to the DLC located on the driver side under the steering column at the GWM, make sure that the ignition is off before connecting the VCM. If the ignition is on or the engine is running during the connection, it can result in various warning lights being illuminated with diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs), no start or no crank conditions or the IPC inoperative. For Lincoln vehicles, this information is now listed in the Technical Inspection and Post Road Test Sections of ePDI on the PTS website. If a vehicle displays these issues, disconnect the equipment from the DLC and disconnect the vehicle battery. Wait 10 minutes and reinstall with the ignition off. Clear any DTCs present and retest.

SSM 477862019-04-08. Service bulletin. Some 2017-2019 F-Super Duty vehicles equipped with a 6.2L or 6.8L gas engine may exhibit multiple warning indicators in the instrument panel cluster and/or inoperative radio during snow plow use. Battery state of charge is important to verify prior to any repairs. 12.72v to 12.8v is a fully charged battery. To assist with the investigation use the Report a Vehicle Concern link at the bottom of the OASIS report and include the following information: What brand of plow the vehicle is equipped with, If it's been equipped by the plow manufacturer's specifications, If other equipment is up-fitted on the vehicle, ambient temperature when the concern occurs, Engine RPM and MPH/KPH, and battery state of charge. Note the concern should be duplicated similar to customer use and ambient temperature.

SSM 477552019-03-04. Service bulletin. Some 2018 F-150 and Expedition vehicles may exhibit a battery draw resulting in a discharged battery. An electronic park brake (EPB) switch internal short may cause the anti-lock brake system (ABS) module to wake up resulting in controller area network (CAN) system wake up. If the draw cannot be duplicated with fuse F70 removed, suspect the EPB switch.

Some 2012-2018 Focus Electric, 2013-2017 C-Max Energi, and 2013-2018 Fusion Energi plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEV) may exhibit the high voltage (HV) battery failing to charge while connected to the second Generation 120-volt electric vehicle service equipment (EVSE) charge cord. Follow the Service Procedure steps to correct the condition.
SSM 470072018-06-11. Service bulletin. The EV Range after fully charging a Focus Electric, C-MAX/Fusion Energi may vary after each charge event. The window sticker indicates 0-20 mile range for C-MAX Energi, 0-21 mile range for Fusion Energi. Variation of EV range may not indicate a battery or charging concern. EV range is similar to the DTE display on gasoline vehicles, EV range will vary with driving/operating conditions. Conditions include: extreme outside temperatures, terrain, driving style, city or highway driving, tire pressure, and use of accessories. If the customer replaces the low roll resistance tires with a more aggressive tread the range will suffer. Using the cabin heater and A/C, which are electric, will also decrease EV range. To temporarily remove the impact of driving/climate history , reset the Driving History/Lifetime Summary by using the Settings menu on the left side of the instrument cluster, under Display
SSM 469982018-06-11. Service bulletin. Some 2016-2018 MKC vehicles built on or before 20-Sep-2017 may exhibit a no crank condition due to a discharged battery from the Rear Gate Trunk Module (RGTM) keeping the vehicle network awake. This may occur after the vehicle has experienced other liftgate related concerns such as bounce back or latching issues. To correct this condition, reprogram the RGTM to the latest level using Integrated Diagnostic System (IDS) or Ford J2534 Diagnostic Software (FJDS) version 107.01 or higher. For claiming, use causal part 14B291 and applicable labor operations in section 10 of the service labor time standards (SLTS) manual.
SSM 466882017-08-25. Service bulletin. Some 2017 MKZ and Fusion vehicles equipped with memory seats and built on or before 3-Jun-2016 may exhibit a discharged battery or a battery drain condition. Before performing normal diagnostics, reprogram the driver door module (DDM) to the latest calibration using the Integrated Diagnostic System (IDS) version 106.01 or higher. Make sure you are connected to the internet when entering module programming to obtain the latest updates. Calibration files may also be obtained at www.motorcraftservice.com. Follow the TSB Service Procedure steps to correct the condition.
SSM 465112017-08-01. Service bulletin. Some 2017 Fusion and MKZ vehicles may exhibit an illuminated MIL with DTC P068A. Address any additional DTCs first. This DTC can set when battery voltage is low or a battery drain condition exits. The root cause of the low battery condition must be identified and corrected before addressing DTC P068A. Refer to Powertrain Control Emissions Diagnosis Manual (PC/ED) for further diagnosis. Review OASIS for other battery drain related messages.
