Modifying vehicle systems that are subject to Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards \(FMVSS\), such as vehicle lighting systems, can potentially render vehicles noncompliant with FMVSS and/or local laws. Dealers should consult their legal counsel before undertaking such modifications to ensure compliance with federal regulations regarding alteration of FMVSS compliant vehicles prior to sale.
