Service bulletin 16-GI-001

A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

NHTSA's summary

INTRODUCTION TO DRY-TYPE DUAL CLUTCH TRANSMISSION This bulletin provides information on components, attributes, and precautions of the 7-speed dry-type dual clutch transmission (DCT). The dual clutch transmission has the driving feel of a manual transmission. It has one clutch for the odd gears, and one clutch for the even gears including reverse. During shifting, the clutches are engaged and disengaged automatically. Unlike a traditional automatic transmission, the gear shifting can be felt and heard. - Think of it as an automatically shifting manual transmission
