Service bulletin M240118

A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

M2401122019-07-12. Service bulletin. Programming a Replacement EGS Module with ISTA/P. Programming a replacement electronic transmission control module (EGS) with ISTA/P requires the manual entry of the correct target basic and programmed part numbers. Programming concept.
M2301082019-01-07. Service bulletin. "MANUAL TRANSMISSION - STIFF DIAGONAL GEARSHIFT LEVER MOVEMENT. The customer may complain of a ""stiff diagonal shift"" (e.g., N-R, R-N, 2-3/3-2 or 4-5/5-4). Also, in some cases, gears cannot be selected, or the selector gear does not go into the neutral position. CAUSE 1. The deflection lever circlip of the gearshift mechanism is damaged or missing. 2. Possible corrosion at the gearshift mechanism (shift cables or transmission gearshift unit)"
M2501142018-12-17. Service bulletin. The manual transmission gear shift knob easily comes off the shift rod with minimal upward force. The retaining tabs on the shifter knob do not hold securely to the shifter rod.
M1102162018-12-10. Service bulletin. "SI M11 02 16 February 2016 Engine Technical Service This Service Information bulletin supersedes SI M11 02 16 dated February 2016.. The upper crankshaft guide bearing may wear out prematurely. The wear on the guide bearing can cause the clutch pedal to malfunction during shifting. The Engine Malfunction Warning may be illuminated and a fault will be stored in the DME memory for the crankshaft sensor. Noise may be heard from the lower engine and transmission bell housing area and engine damage can occur in rare occasions. This Service Action involves ""382"" F55 and F56 vehicles produced from February 2014 to December 2014. Vehicles which require this Service Action to be completed will show it as ""Open"" when checked either in the ""Service Menu"" of DCSnet (Dealer Communication System) or with the Key Reader. UN"
M1213152018-12-10. Service bulletin. ?SUBJECT Service Action: Program Control Units (DME) . A Check Control Message could intermittently be displayed indicating a Start/Stop Function failure. Vehicle may not restart after stopping. The following fault is stored in the DME: Fault 20BA20: clutch switch, signal: missing In addition the BDC may have the following fault stored: Fault 804084: clutch switch, plausibility fault compared to CAN signal This can occur if for example 14 gears changes are made, but the upper clutch position switch is only activated 10 times. This difference could occur when the clutch pedal is not being fully released between gear shifts or by resting a foot on the pedal so the upper switch position is not recognized.
M2101132018-12-03. Service bulletin. Clutch Is Slipping or Grabbing. The customer states that the clutch is slipping or grabbing.
M0105142018-11-26. Service bulletin. MINI CVT Replacement Parts Warranty Extension: Additional 12 Months with Up to 50,000 Accumulated Miles. A MINI vehicle's CVT assembly or component that was previously repaired and/or replaced by an authorized MINI dealer or BMW center may experience a subsequent failure.

M2101142018-11-13. Service bulletin. Dual Mass Flywheel: Diagnosis and Inspection. INFORMATION The following three criteria must to be checked, evaluated and the resulting findings documented on the repair order prior to replacing a dual-mass flywheel as defective: 1. Total rotational angle at no load condition (with applied torque less then 20 Nm) 2. Secondary plate longitudal axial play 3. Friction surface appearance changes due to thermal overload. PROCEDURE Refer to the attached "Dual-mass Flywheel Inspection" document for the complete inspection procedure. The dual-mass flywheel replacement is justified only if one or more of the following criteria are met: 1. The total rotational free-play measured at the flywheel gear ring is: Equal to or greater than 3 tooth gaps on N14/N18-equipped engines; Equal to or greater than 14 tooth gaps on B38/B46/B48-equipped engines. 2. The secondary plate total axial bearing play measured at outside diameter of the flywheel is: Equal to or greater than 3 mm on N14/N18-equipped engines; Equal to or greater than 5 mm on B38/B46/B48-equipped engines. 3. Significant discoloration in the adjoining area outside the friction ring, or a severe ablation/erosion of the friction area, is present. WARRANTY INFORMATION Warranty claims for replacing a Dual Mass Flywheel are subject to denial or debit when it is determined that the diagnostic procedures outlined above were not followed.
