# Service bulletin T\-SB\-0195\-17

A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

## NHTSA's summary

TSB: A battery in a stored vehicle is subject to conditions that can reduce its performance and life. These conditions include storage period, temperature, parasitic drain, and battery load. Because of these factors, battery inspection and maintenance are required in order to ensure proper operation and optimal battery life. As a matter of policy, Toyota does not provide battery warranty coverage for discharges and/or failed batteries due to lack of maintenance. It is the dealer's responsibility to maintain the specific State\-Of\-Charge \(SOC\) of the vehicle's battery while in stock and assure proper SOC at delivery.

- [ZKH](/bulletins/11021714.md), 2025-08-08, Service campaign: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; STRUCTURE:BODY. All VINs under ZKH are expired as of July 6, 2025 Toyota has received reports stating that the door mirror foot lights \(puddle lights\) may project a distorted image of the C\-HR logo onto the ground. This distortion may be due to the projector film in the door mirror foot light becoming damaged due to heat and moisture. Although the door mirror foot light is covered by Toyota’s New Vehicle Limited Warranty for 3 years or 36,000 miles \(whichever comes first\), we at Toyota care about the customers’ ownership experience. Toyota is providing coverage for repairs related to the condition described above.

- [21TG01](/bulletins/11020666.md), 2025-07-10, Service campaign: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. 21TG01 Exprired \- Replaced with Campaign 23TA13 During a recent investigation of reported battery fires in 2013\-2018 RAV4 vehicles with gasoline engines \(excluding hybrid models\), Toyota discovered that many non\-Toyota retailers and others who sell or install replacement batteries were recommending a small size battery for replacement. Toyota specifies a particular size replacement battery for the RAV4 that does not include this small size. The smaller battery may not fit securely with the RAV4’s battery mounting parts, and, in some cases, can move around when the vehicle is driven, causing a short circuit. Using the wrong size battery, or not installing a replacement battery properly, can cause damage to the battery and the vehicle, and it could cause a vehicle fire.
