NHTSA's summary
Cause The rear lid closes at a higher speed particularly at cold temperatures. The signal from the microswitch in the lid lock is too short and cannot be read out clearly by the control unit software. Remedial action Replace, re-code and teach (calibrate) the existing rear lid (tailgate) control unit, depending on the software version.
