# Service bulletin 167\-T1701\-12

A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

## NHTSA's summary

TT\-17\-017 The P0500 typically sets due to a short or sensor concern. Since the speed is sent to the meter then to the ECU, suspect a concern between the meter and engine ECU. If so, unplug the radio and see if the concern changes. A speed wire was added to the radio connectors for speed controlled radio volume. If an aftermarket radio is installed, it will short this wire, set the P0500 and cause the concern experienced. See the below wiring diagrams.
