## NHTSA's summary

Supersedes AVT\-12\-25 due to revised and additional information. On VAS diagnostic devices with VAS\-PC and Offboard Diagnostic Information System Service \(ODIS Service\) installed, a number of application files are shared. As a result, whenever VAS\-PC is uninstalled, ODIS Service must be uninstalled first. Updates and support for VAS\-PC diagnostic software are scheduled to end August 31, 2013. Reinstallation and use of VAS\-PC is discretionary from that date onward. Failure to uninstall ODIS Service prior to VAS\-PC removal corrupts the EDIC hardware configuration and prevents ODIS Service from communicating with the vehicle's diagnostic CAN\-Bus. If at any time you wish to permanently remove an otherwise functioning VAS\-PC installation, we recommend you defer removal until the latest "installation version" of ODIS Service is to be installed.
