Service bulletin AVT-13-14

A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

NHTSA's summary

Supersedes AVT-12-25 due to revised and additional information. On VAS diagnostic devices with VAS-PC and Offboard Diagnostic Information System Service (ODIS Service) installed, a number of application files are shared. As a result, whenever VAS-PC is uninstalled, ODIS Service must be uninstalled first. Updates and support for VAS-PC diagnostic software are scheduled to end August 31, 2013. Reinstallation and use of VAS-PC is discretionary from that date onward. Failure to uninstall ODIS Service prior to VAS-PC removal corrupts the EDIC hardware configuration and prevents ODIS Service from communicating with the vehicle's diagnostic CAN-Bus. If at any time you wish to permanently remove an otherwise functioning VAS-PC installation, we recommend you defer removal until the latest "installation version" of ODIS Service is to be installed.
