Service bulletin AWC-13-15

A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

NHTSA's summary

Audi Warranty has received comments from Dealer Service and Parts personnel that in some cases it may be difficult to determine whether damaged, defective, or incorrectly manufactured parts sold "over the counter", not installed by an Authorized Audi Dealer, should be submitted as a Parts Warranty claim (Audi Warranty) or a Parts Damage claim (PDC). The Parts Distribution Centers (PDC) have provided a guideline for a Warranty claim. Any part that is mis-manufactured or defective in some manner should be submitted as a Parts Warranty claim, claim type 131. Additional requirements for Parts Warranty are (1) the packaging is not compromised in any way, and (2) the part number is correct.
