Service bulletin TT 45-08-02

A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

NHTSA's summary

Tech Tips (Fault Code 02543 000 Present in ABS): Fault code 02543 000 ?Brake Vacuum Sensor no Display? may be encountered in the ABS module. This may be caused by the hydraulic brake boost function (HBV) in adaptation value 61 being turned off (value = 0). All Passat Wagons (including 4motion) and 3.6L equipped sedans with front drive should have this function turned on (value = 1). Change the adaptation value and verify the fault has cleared. Additionally, it may be necessary to lock the vehicle and allow the modules to go to sleep to clear the fault.
