# Service bulletin A271318 2023282\-

A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

- Type: Service bulletin
- NHTSA id: 10121305
- Published by NHTSA: 2017\-10\-31
- Manufacturer's number: A271318 2023282\-
- Manufacturer's date: 2013\-10\-04
- NHTSA component: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:12V/24V/48V BATTERY

## NHTSA's summary

Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 27 number 12\-10 dated February 13, 2012. Battery testing and charging for vehicles equipped with a Battery Data Manager \(BDM \- J367\). When the InCharge 940 is used as a battery charger in auto mode, it performs a battery condition test and may prematurely fail the battery if the charging takes place at the jumper posts in the engine compartment. This is due to the added resistance in the system between the battery and jumper posts. When the InCharge 940 is used as a battery charger in manual mode, the battery condition test is not performed.

After a mechatronics, torque converter, or complete gearbox replacement, the clutches must be adapted to the new component. This requires a gradual move of the clutch linings toward the optimal operating points in the most diverse load conditions. As a result, sporadic driving power disruptions lasting for less than a second or reduced shift comfort are possible over the first 500 miles. This is normal, and these issues will decrease over time. The issues can also occur if the adaptation values of the gearbox were deleted.
