# Service bulletin JTB00368NAS4

A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

- Type: Service bulletin
- NHTSA id: 10119555
- Published by NHTSA: 2017\-10\-15
- Manufacturer's number: JTB00368NAS4
- Manufacturer's date: 2017\-09\-07
- NHTSA component: EQUIPMENT; VISIBILITY:SUN/MOON ROOF ASSEMBLY; STRUCTURE:BODY:ROOF AND PILLARS

## NHTSA's summary

Situation: The Panoramic Roof may exhibit a 'creak' noise while driving with the roof opening panel in the closed position. Creaking noises from the rear edge of the roof opening panel area, only when the opening panel in the closed position, during vehicle torsional inputs. This bulletin is a potential addition to the Service Instruction originally included in Service Action K117 \(now expired\) as this particular concern will normally occur while driving with the roof opening panel closed over undulations in the road such as, but not exclusively: drain covers, traffic calming measures, and uneven road surfaces.

"SITUATION: THE PANORAMIC ROOF MAY EXHIBIT A 'CREAK' NOISE WHILE DRIVING WITH THE ROOF OPENING PANEL IN THE CLOSED POSITION. CREAKING NOISES FROM THE REAR EDGE OF THE ROOF OPENING PANEL AREA, ONLY WHEN THE OPENING PANEL IN THE CLOSED POSITION, DURING VEHICLE TORSIONAL INPUTS. THIS BULLETIN IS A POTENTIAL ADDITION TO THE SERVICE INSTRUCTION DESCRIBED IN SERVICE ACTION K117 AS THIS PARTICULAR CONCERN WILL NORMALLY OCCUR WHILE DRIVING WITH THE ROOF OPENING PANEL CLOSED OVER UNDULATIONS IN THE ROAD SUCH AS, BUT NOT EXCLUSIVELY: DRAIN COVERS, TRAFFIC CALMING MEASURES, AND UNEVEN ROAD SURFACES. CAUSE: THIS MAY BE CAUSED BY: • THE ROOF OPENING PANEL REAR EDGE INTERIOR TOOTH FEATURE COMING INTO CONTACT WITH THE ROOF FRAME WHEN CLOSED; AND/OR • MOVEMENT BETWEEN THE SLIDING ROOF PANEL MECHANISM ARM AND THE LOCKING ARM DURING TORSIONAL INPUTS TO THE VEHICLE."
- [K391UPS33162BNAS](/bulletins/10079841.md), 2016-09-13, Service bulletin: STRUCTURE:BODY:ROOF AND PILLARS; VISIBILITY:SUN/MOON ROOF ASSEMBLY. SITUATION: AN ISSUE HAS BEEN IDENTIFIED ON A LIMITED NUMBER OF VEHICLES WITHIN THE LISTED AFFECTED VEHICLE RANGE WHERE CREAKING NOISES FROM THE PANORAMIC ROOF, WITH THE MOVING PANEL IN THE CLOSED POSITION, MAY BE EVIDENT DURING TORSIONAL INPUTS TO THE VEHICLE.
