Service bulletin SSPA0
A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

NHTSA's summary
Mazda Motor Corporation is extending the warranty coverage for dashboard crash pads on certain 2009-2013 Mazda6 vehicles produced from February 4, 2008 through August 24, 2012. For certain 2009-2013 Mazda6 vehicles, the warranty coverage for sticky dashboard upper panel (crash pad) replacement only is extended to 10 years (120 months) from the original warranty start date, with no mileage limitation. Any other condition for dashboard replacement, such as discoloration, warping, or material splitting, is covered only for 36 months or 36,000 miles. On certain Mazda6 vehicles that are exposed to severe environmental conditions including high ambient temperature and humidity, the material used in the crash pad may deteriorate over time. If there is prolonged exposure and deterioration, the crash pad could develop a sticky surface. If a sticky surface condition exists, the crash pad must be replaced. The warranty extension only applies to the sticky surface condition. It does not apply to crash pads that are discolored, warped, or split. These conditions are covered under Mazda?s New Vehicle Limited Warranty for the first 36 months or 36,000 miles, whichever comes first.

A recall listed here may apply to some of the same vehicles. Only the manufacturer can say whether it applies to one vehicle.
| SA-039/25 | 2025-09-05. Service bulletin. Some vehicles may experience exterior trim heat damage such (melted, separating, etc.) when parked near a glass building or Low-E windows. This may be caused by the sun's reflection. If a structure's windows create enough of a curve, the concave glass can focus the sun's rays onto a small area and acting like magnifiying glass direct the sunbeams into a hot pinpoint of light. This magnifcation of the sun's rays can cause damage to vehicle trim (see examples). Additional information and exemplar images regarding this phenomenon can be found by performing a google search. |

If you encounter any type of electrical concern (e.g, dead battery, engine no start, DTC(s) stored...), interview the customer before proceeding with normal MGSS diagnosis by asking if any aftermarket devices have been installed. Aftermarket devices may be the cause of the electrical concern. Below are a few examples of unusual electrical concerns caused by aftermarket devices. |
