Service bulletin SSP97
A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

NHTSA's summary
Mazda Motor Corporation has decided to conduct a Special Service Program (SSP) on certain 2014 CX-9 and 2015 MX-5 vehicles. On the affected vehicles, the strength of an internal part of the liftgate latch actuator or trunk lid latch actuator may be insufficient due to the usage of inappropriate material. With repeated lock-unlock operation, the internal part may be broken, making the lock-unlock operation impossible. In the worst case, though the trunk lid can be opened using the key, the liftgate or trunk lid may not be opened electrically (by operating switch, transmitter, etc.). Dealers are to replace the liftgate or trunk lid latch with a new, improved latch. This repair must be performed at no charge to the vehicle owner. SSP97 will be in effect until May 31, 2022, regardless of mileage.

| SA-039/25 | 2025-09-05. Service bulletin. Some vehicles may experience exterior trim heat damage such (melted, separating, etc.) when parked near a glass building or Low-E windows. This may be caused by the sun's reflection. If a structure's windows create enough of a curve, the concave glass can focus the sun's rays onto a small area and acting like magnifiying glass direct the sunbeams into a hot pinpoint of light. This magnifcation of the sun's rays can cause damage to vehicle trim (see examples). Additional information and exemplar images regarding this phenomenon can be found by performing a google search. |

| 09-017-16-3169 | 2021-01-28. Service bulletin. Some vehicles may exhibit a rattle noise and/or wind noise from the front door glass area while driving the vehicle. This is caused by a deformed glass run channel (A). The deformed area is located at the upper rear corner of the run channel and is caused by repeated door glass closures in very hot climates. The deformed area causes poor contact between the glass run channel and the door sash, which results in rattle noise and/or wind noise. |
