# Service bulletin 2017\-07

A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

## NHTSA's summary

Revised fault code generation strategies issued for certain O2 sensor and Coolant Temp Sensor diagnostics. Currently a fault code may not be immediately generated or the MIL illuminated in the event that a fault has occurred. In extreme instances this may result in drivability issues such as: \- Vehicle poor starting or non\-starting. \- Excessive engine rpm at idle. \- Vehicle unable to re\-start if the engine is stopped with the fault still present. \- Unable to select D ? Drive or R ? Reverse if the engine idle speed is above 2000 rpm \(automatic models only\). \- An increase in the brake pedal effort required to slow or stop the vehicle \(automatic models only\). The revised diagnostic strategy for this issue is now more robust, ensuring that potential issues are more promptly detected, hence reducing the risk of the driveability issues described above from occurring.

- [sb\_2021\_06\_DTC](/bulletins/10198785.md), 2021-07-05, Service bulletin: ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. There is often inconsistent or insufficient information received from dealers when reporting ECU and TCU related faults. This bulletin aims to standardise the information when filing a claim to After Sales.
- [sb\_2020\_01](/bulletins/10175849.md), 2020-06-01, Service bulletin: EQUIPMENT:OTHER:OWNERS/SERVICE/OTHER MANUAL; ENGINE. Any unauthorised modifications, including fitment of non\-approved after\-market air filter resulting in generation of diagnostic trouble codes \(DTC’s\) P0101 \& P1109. We have had several instances where DTC’s P0101 \& P1109 had been set and the car recovered into the dealer, only for them to find that the original equipment engine air intake filter had been substituted for a non\-approved after\-market type \(applicable to both dry and oil coated types\).
