Service bulletin 167-T1704-06

A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

NHTSA's summary

On some low profile body applications such as a wrecker/rollback, the body builder may have relocated the upper shock absorber mount brackets to provide clearance to the body on the vehicle. Relocating the shock absorber brackets will cause severe damage to shock absorbers when fully compressed. Damage resulting from this unapproved modification is NON WARRANTABLE. Enhanced upper and lower shock brackets have been made available that will allow appropriate clearance to low profile body applications while maintaining the correct geometry of the shock absorber. 11MY-17MY Conventional Trucks equipped with a Hendrickson Comfort Air suspension
