# Service bulletin 06\-00\-89\-026L

A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

## Other bulletins for the same vehicles and component

- [PIP5168F](/bulletins/10129067.md), 2018-02-21, Service bulletin: POWER TRAIN:AXLE ASSEMBLY:AXLE SHAFT; BACK OVER PREVENTION; FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE. This Preliminary Information communication provides information to the technician on the steps to diagnose and repair vehicles that may have a no crank concern. Technician will need to check the valve train for movement when the engine is cranked. If the valve train is not moving while the crankshaft is moving the front cover will need to be removed to inspect for a sheared cam sprocket locator pin. If the cam sprocket locator pin has sheared, replace the engine assembly. If the valve train is rotating during inspection, disconnect the Camshaft Position sensor and check if the engine will start. If the engine starts front cover will need to be removed to inspect for a sheared cam sprocket locator pin. If the cam sprocket locator pin has sheared, replace the engine assembly. If the engine does not start with the Camshaft Position sensor disconnected the follow published \“Engine Cranks But Does Not Run\” diagnosis in Service Information. Also perform an Engine Compression Test and Cylinder Leakage Test in Service Information documents all results. If the Service Information procedures above isolate an engine mechanical concern then removed to inspect for a sheared cam sprocket locator pin. If the cam sprocket locator pin has sheared, replace the engine assembly.
- [PI0137E](/bulletins/10126212.md), 2017-12-22, Service bulletin: POWER TRAIN:AXLE ASSEMBLY. This preliminary bulletin provides a procedure to repair the rear axle seals to correct the customers concern of a chatter or moan on low speed turns.
- [PIP5097A](/bulletins/10114562.md), 2017-08-15, Service bulletin: POWER TRAIN:AXLE ASSEMBLY. This Preliminary Information communication provides the technician with the following steps to correct a moan noise from the rear axle during cold turning maneuvers. This noise might start to be noticed as the vehicle accumulates over 3000 miles. The technician is to perform the following steps. 1. With original lube in axle, conduct Freeway Speeds for 10 miles to warm up lube. 2. Immediately drain original lube and refill with fresh lube. 3. In parking lot lock steering to the right, and then execute 5 Full Circles at \(5\-10 mph\). 4. . In parking lot lock steering to the left, and then execute 5 Full Circles at \(5\-10 mph\). 5. Perform 4 Figure 8?s at \(5\-10 mph\). 6. Freeway Speeds for 20 miles until operating temperature is achieved. 7. In parking lot lock steering to the right, and then execute 5 Full Circles at \(5\-10 mph\). 8. In parking lot lock steering to the left, and then execute 5 Full Circles at \(5\-10 mph\). 9. Perform 4 Figure 8?s at \(5\-10 mph\). 10. Immediately drain current lube in axle and refill with fresh lube. 11. Perform Steps 3 thru 9 again. 12. Immediately drain current lube in axle and refill with fresh lube. Proceed with steps 2 through 9 two times, for a total of 3 drain and fill procedures. This should only be done for a moan noise from the rear axle during cold start turning maneuvers. During regular maintenance the fluid only needs to be changed one time.
- [G\-179736](/bulletins/10114234.md), 2017-08-15, Service bulletin: POWER TRAIN:AXLE ASSEMBLY. 13397 \- Customer Satisfaction. Certain vehicles were built with a 3.73 rear axle ratio instead of a 3.42 ratio. With the incorrect rear axle, the speedometer and odometer will indicate 9% above the true value and the transmission shift points will be set for a 3.42 ratio. Dealers are to install a new rear axle with a 3.42 ratio. GM will extend the vehicle mileage warranty as appropriate for accrued mileage on sold vehicles
- [G\-179000](/bulletins/10114230.md), 2017-08-15, Service bulletin: POWER TRAIN:AXLE ASSEMBLY:AXLE SHAFT. 13387 \- Service Update. Dealers are to perform a drive audit. A small number of engines may develop a crankshaft bearing noise condition at low mileage. The drive audit must be completed before vehicle delivery \(and in addition to normal pre\-delivery inspection activities\) to identify vehicles with the condition. If the condition is found, dealers are to replace the engine.
- [G\-175492](/bulletins/10114207.md), 2017-08-15, Service bulletin: WHEELS:LUGS/NUTS/BOLTS/STUDS; POWER TRAIN:AXLE ASSEMBLY:AXLE SHAFT. 11243A \- Customer Satisfaction \(revised expiration date\). On certain 2011 model year Chevrolet Express and GMC Savana vehicles, two of the four bolts that attach the propshaft to the rear axle may not be fastened to the proper specification and may begin to loosen. This would result in an unusual noise and/or vibration. If the bolts continue to loosen and the propshaft separates from the rear axle, the power to the wheels will no longer be delivered. The engine will continue to run and power braking and steering will not be affected.
- [G\-169470](/bulletins/10114182.md), 2017-08-15, Service bulletin: ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING; POWER TRAIN:AXLE ASSEMBLY:AXLE SHAFT:SEAL. 12313 \- Special Coverage. The chrome layer on the balance chain pins may wear, allowing the chain to stretch. This would cause an engine noise, and if left untreated, could cause the chain to break, leading to engine damage. In addition, the fuel pump plunger shaft seal may wear and allow fuel to leak into the crankcase, setting P0172 DTC, and illuminating the Malfunction Indicator Light. This can cause engine run\-on and/or the engine to run rough. If this condition occurs within the stated terms, dealers will replace the engine balance chain and fuel pump.
- [PI1354C](/bulletins/10113806.md), 2017-08-15, Service bulletin: POWER TRAIN:AXLE ASSEMBLY. This preliminary informational bulletin outlines the recommendations and procedures for diagnosing and repairing vibrations caused by wheel and tire, axle components and/or propeller shafts.
- [PI1354B](/bulletins/10113521.md), 2017-08-15, Service bulletin: WHEELS; POWER TRAIN:AXLE ASSEMBLY. This preliminary informational bulletin outlines the recommendations and procedures for diagnosing and repairing vibrations caused by wheel and tire, axle components and/or propeller shafts.
- [PI0561A](/bulletins/10113481.md), 2017-08-15, Service bulletin: POWER TRAIN:AXLE ASSEMBLY:AXLE SHAFT:SEAL. This preliminary information bulletin provides a procedure for replacing the right and left axle shaft seals to eliminate a squeak or chirp noise due to the lack of lubrication.
