Service bulletin TSB 413

A bulletin is a manufacturer's communication to its dealers, as NHTSA indexes it. The summary is NHTSA's. The document is the manufacturer's: read it at NHTSA. A bulletin is not a recall, and listing a model year does not mean every vehicle of it is concerned.

NHTSA's summary

Newmar Corporation has decided that a defect which relates to motor vehicle safety exists in certain model year 2015 Essex motor homes equipped with Spartan Motors Inc. steering slip shafts used on K3 chassis with IFS2000S2 suspension. The steering column may have inadequate spline engagement at the steering gear. This could lead to wear and potentially result in the steering shaft becoming disconnected or slipping, causing a loss of steering control and increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property.
